Vladimir Kara-Murza studied and wrote about dissidents in the Soviet Union and the workings of the system of repression. When he became a dissident and Putin imprisoned him, he observed directly what he had learned in his studies.

🚨🚨SCOOP - How did fake GOP elector documents get to the office of Sen. Ron Johnson R-WI on #Jan6?
The Jan. 6 tapes show an aide to Rep. Mike Kelly R-PA handing off the docs by the Supreme Court as Trump supporters massed at the Capitol.

@ai6yr Is it bulletproof at least?
@DemocracyMattersALot He's not the sharpest pencil in the box, is he?
"[Mark] obinson also posted far worse things on the porn site than the things about his predilection for peeping on unsuspecting women and other sexual misconduct, which we know, because CNN, who broke the story, decided not to publish the worst stuff, because it was too bad to print. So I guess there's even worse out there that's just ... not being reported on, for our protection, I guess."

@randahl Pretty, Mine look dull with a slightly brownish cast to the black. Maybe they're very old and "turning gray". hahaha. I've had the impression they're old.

@lovelylovely Agreed. West Virginia makes it difficult to vote except in person. In 2018 it was easy because I was 2,000 miles away for months. Now it seems I have to move Heaven and Earth to evade all the restrictions. Of course, you'd expect this in a red state where they want the idlers and jobless to vote and the hard-workers to not vote.
@claralistensprechen3rd @HamonWry @sheiladebonis Exactly. And this reversal is very confusing for younger folks.
GOP was the party of Lincoln. It was Republicans who established the first National Parks and the Park Service.
In the 1920s, the Ku Klux Klan had over 20 million members and every one of them was a Democrat.
Wait. What???
Facts like these make no sense today unless you know the intervening history. MLK and LBJ. Then Nixon and the Southern Strategy. Etc., etc.
@Bronwyn A year ago I did both at once and had no effects. But everyone is different, of course.
@wdlindsy I do have patience but none was required. I was the one who stepped out of bounds. I thank you for your understanding.
@randahl Yes, I remember the first time I saw them in a setting of familiar objects so I could get a sense of scale. They're big!
Mine here have a dull brownish black color. Not very shiny. The crows here are jet black and shiny.
@MiBaWi Not good. Explosive vapors/gases in sewer lines can cause massive explosions.
@randahl Yup, raven. I'm fortunate to have a pack of three that have lived in my neighborhood for years. I've never gotten closer than about 75 feet but they must know me. Whenever I see them I stop and observe, sometimes with binoculars. I try to call back and it seems like they sometimes respond. I have no doubt they have a conversational language.
@Strandjunker This is one of my favorite quips to toss into a face to face dicussion.
I love #Doonesbury with the heat of 1000000 white hot suns. “Democrat” party? No. “Democrat” is a noun. “Democratic” is an adjective.

@wdlindsy I feel the same way. I was focused on making my point in my own way and failed to take the sensibilities of others into account. In doing so I violated one of my own rules: never insult someone by accident. ;-)
@wdlindsy It was not my specific intention to mock anyone's religion. I apologize.
@rms Yes. This didn't happene under the U.S. Tax Code in force in the 1950s and 60s. Hmm. I wonder why. ;-)

"I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much. Gases are spewing into the atmosphere. You know we have a world, right? So the world is tiny compared to the universe. So tremendous amount of fumes and everything." --Donald Trump
