NEW ON SITE: The Buggay Family and Associates (originally published August 2020)
We have added documentation on the Buggay family of Woodstock, Georgia to our website. This family is highly involved in neo-Confederate organizing and also has deep ties to white supremacist "Christian Identity" circles.
We're republishing what was originally a long Twitter thread, as Twitter is a poor archive for anti-fascist documentation. We also wish to highlight the Buggay family once again since their "Jubilee" musical project was the entertainment at the Sons of Confederate Veterans "Confederate Memorial Day" event at Stone Mountain this year.
Great, someone has created an #AI tool specifically for crafting #fraud #emails. Article: "An attacker who isn’t fluent in the recipient’s language might need some help creating a persuasive email and polishing it up." #AIpocalpyse https://therecord.media/ai-tool-generates-bec-fraud

@davetron5000 Yeah their formula is not good. Part of it is how much they love a sympathetic villain. I grew up with comics where villains were actually bad people, and Magneto was super interesting because he was the one villain who was fighting for a good cause but doing it badly. Now MCO keeps trying to make all their big bads like that, and we end up wasting a ton of time on their backstory and why we should sympathize with their villainy. Changing Thanos from a madman who wanted to kill half the universe just to impress a lady into a misguided champion of sustainability was definitely a choice, and they keep making that same choice on most of their villains now. So boring. I just want a villain I can feel good about hating, not one I feel I need to root for as the underdog.
Your rights are an illusion
A 3 judge panel on the federal appeals court ruled a catholic school was in their rights to fire a counselor because they’re gay
Shelly Fitzgerald was not subject to anti-discrimination protections because of “ministerial exception”
It allows religious organizations to fire certain workers if they disagree with their beliefs
• The panel: two Trump appointees and one from Reagan
You’re fooling yourself if you think theocracy will stop here

Good article and I'm sure it's all correct. But despite mentioning loads of reasons for the downturn, it fails to mention high prices due to inflation. Most of the businesses being hurt depend on discretionary spending. "Let's spend the weekend in The City." Nope. "Let's go for a drink. Let's go dancing. Let's go shopping." Naw, let's not. People are spending only what they have to spend in order to function.

#Water pumped from deep underground helps #alfalfa grow at the Saudi-owned Fondomonte farm in the Butler Valley, in western Arizona
Saudi Arabia bans industrial scale farming of alfalfa, to protect its limited water supplies.
So they grow it in a #US desert and ship it back home, using AZ’s scarce water.
Perspective: The prior republican admin even blocked efforts to track the amount of water being used. #Arizona get saudi the fuck out.

“If the minimum wage had continued to go up in step with productivity, it would now be not $7.25 but about $25 an hour. A recent RAND study found that if the U.S. had remained as equitable as it was in 1975 for the next 43 years through 2018, the bottom 90 percent of Americans would have earned an extra $47 trillion. Instead that money flowed in a great flood to the top.” https://theintercept.com/2023/07/16/class-warfare-1-percent-technocrat/
"Landlords are using #AI to screen their tenants, heightening errors and discrimination.
When Chris Robinson applied to move into a California senior living community five years ago, the property manager ran his name through an automated screening program that reportedly used artificial intelligence to detect “higher-risk renters.” Robinson, then 75, was denied after the program assigned him a low score — one that he later learned was based on a past conviction for littering.
Not only did the crime have little bearing on whether Robinson would be a good tenant, it wasn’t even one that he’d committed. The program had turned up the case of a 33-year-old man with the same name in Texas — where Robinson had never lived."

Banks are paying depositors an avg of 0.4% interest.
Banks then get paid 5% interest when they take savers’ cash & park it at the Fed.
The gap is the largest in history, making “net interest income” the Great Bank Robbery of 2023: https://levernews.com/the-great-bank-robbery/
The latest example 👇
NatWest cash machine at King’s Cross station concourse has a skimmer on it, the machine has a phone number to ‘report suspicious activity’. So I call it.
Automated service which fails to work out what I’m on about, then won’t let me past without my NatWest bank account number, which I don’t have because I’m not a NatWest customer.
Station security disinterested.
Anyway, it’s on the rightmost one at 4pm on Sun 16 Jul if anyone gives a flying fuck.
