@reneestephen This is something I don't think enough people appreciate. Kim Jong Un is perfectly happy being a zillionaire ruler of starving people. They don't care how bad things get as long as they're on top of what's left.

Please tell me again about how Mastodon is harder to use than the site where you have to keep track of how many posts you read each day.

Whenever people say "the left is always so triggered," remember that one (1) trans woman said she liked to drink Bud Light, so in response, conservatives said they would kill her.

To recap: Supreme Court justices nominated by a president who lost the popular vote and confirmed by Senators representing far less than half the country have eliminated abortion rights, green-lighted anti-LGBTQ discrimination, and ended affirmative action.

In one year.

ChatGPT is now refusing to provide links to articles it says I wrote. This makes sense since I didn't write at least several of the ones it cited.

1/2 If you have seen the viral video of the NYC Drag March claiming they were chanting "We're coming for your children" just know it is bullshit. The only person chanting that was the provocateur who posted it. The real chant was "We're not going shopping" in opposition to "Rainbow capitalism" and corporations like Target who backtrack on their support because of backlash.

Something to keep in mind when hearing about hydrogen as a renewable or green fuel is that nearly half of hydrogen production, worldwide, comes from natural gas. Another 45% or so come from coal and oil sources. Renewable hydrogen - electrolysis, generally - is basically a blip.

Hydrogen is, in many cases, an attempt _by the fossil fuels industry_ to carry on business as usual in the face of carbon-reduction initiatives by putting the carbonaceous parts out of sight.

Found something remarkable (and also quite sad).

In 1997, Wired published "The Long Boom", a hyper-optimistic article about how we'd achieve Utopia by 2020.

The authors included notes on some "scenario spoilers"—negative events that might send is in a worse direction.

...and those spoilers turned out to be almost spookily accurate.

There were a lot of apparently happily surprised folks here when I last mentioned Tom Lehrer in passing, and it occurs to me that many of you may not be familiar with his amazing performance in Copenhagen in 1967. - youtube.com/watch?v=QHPmRJIoc2

There’s only one reason Judge Aileen Cannon denied the special counsel's request to keep the names of the 84 witnesses in the Trump case hidden

One reason only:

It’s to have maga traitors threaten them in hopes they don’t testify.

There’s nothing American about a republican.

USA Politics today:
•Biden gets $42B for broadband—Trump admits to stealing classified docs
•PA Gov Shapiro repairs I-95 in 12 days—FL Gov DeSantis tries to cancel citizenship
•IL Gov Pritzker signs bill to guarantee breaks & a day off—TX Gov Abbot bans water breaks

Dems aren’t perfect, no, but we are working to be more perfect—and that matters.

Holy crap, this line from CNN's Reliable Sources newsletter: "Under Licht, many CNN journalists simply felt restrained as they delivered the news, unsure whether stating the truth on the contentious, politically charged issues that saturate the daily news cycle might land them in hot water."

UNSURE WHETHER STATING THE TRUTH...MIGHT LAND THEM IN HOT WATER.

Lawyer refused to remove his concealed weapon while accompanying a family member into an MRI.

He was warned to remove any and all metal. He chose not to disclose that he was carrying the ferro-magnetic weapon.

No innocent people were injured.

He was killed.
