Why I can't do politics conversations any longer: I don't have the time or patience for well akshully nonsense any longer. That's conversations with allies or supposed allies even. The whole dealing with persuasion etc is no longer in my temperament. I just get into FU mode or "get me off this planet I can't take these people any longer" moods. I don't know if it is age, experience, being worn down by the last few years or what. Just don't have the patience to do the kabuki dance any longer. It isn't productive for persuasion but I'm just stuck in FU mode I guess.
...by the above it means I'm far less likely to do the point/counterpoint thing and instead just lay into someone. That is especially true if it has anything to do with culture war issues, climate change, COVID, or the January 6th insurrection. Is it less productive? Yep. But I don't give a fuck at this point.
