The level of scumbaggery in the "crypto" crowd is a surprise only to people who haven't been paying attention.

A lot of them should be hiring criminal defense lawyers right now, but I have little faith in our government's ability -- much less desire -- to hold them accountable.

> I consider reports to be important, it is just that they are often unrelated to our own rules

Yeah, the reason I don't care about them isn't that reporting itself is bad, but that reports are usually like...someone has written "COVID-denial and ableist rhetoric" in German, or they reported a post with an anime girl and didn't write anything, someone reported one of my posts with "jewish fagot", shit like that. Nothing useful.

> I can't ask for further information either since I have no idea who sent a report.

This is particularly annoying, especially in the case of the "Well, here's nothing and I'm reporting an innocuous post".

> I can't believe that I'm asking for better reporting etiquette but we may need it now.

Well, who do you ask? They're doing this fedified.com thing to try to port the bluecheck over to fedi, they're saying "How should we define this new culture that we have?" instead of trying to understand the current culture or even noticing that it exists. (They'll be gone, they'll return to Elon's loving embrace when they find out that this isn't a good place to make money and that they're not special here.)

"Policy (the application logic) should be cleanly separated from mechanism (the domain primitives), but if there is a lot of code that is neither policy nor mechanism, chances are that it is accomplishing very little besides adding global complexity to the system."
