Hello everyone, this is an announcement for the

3rd FreeFediBookClub Group Read

This time we are reading three tales by H. P. Lovecraft.
1. Shadow Over Innsmouth
2. Music of Erich Zann
3. Dagon

About the Author:
HP Lovecraft is an American author born in New England in the early 20th century and is the father of the style of fiction that would come to be known as cosmic horror.
The theme that is present in all of his works and which characterizes cosmic horror is that of the smallness and insignificance of man before the vastness of the universe.
He wrote a great many short stories, and wrote tens of thousands of letters to other authors who were writing similar stories in pulp magazines at the time, such as Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan the barbarian.
While HP Lovecraft is personally known for cosmic horror, the backdrop that he is present in is known as "weird fiction" and comprises a wide variety of short stories and could well be seen as a particularly American style.
While you read these stories, consider man's subjection to forces beyond his control and the insignificance of mortal men before beings who are so large and powerful that they don't even notice we exist.

In 8 days from now, Sunday the 12th of February, we shall have a cozy discussion thread upon these stories and Lovecraft mythos in general.
Both members of Free Fedi Book Club and outsiders will be welcome to participate and discuss.
To make the discussion more fun some questions will provided as a conversational starting point.

Somalia has an interesting legal system to deal with this, it's kinda like insurance.

When you're born you get assigned to a judge, kinda like how we get a godfather. The judge is expected to get to know you as you grow up and get an idea of your character and the value you bring to your community.

If you're accused of a crime your judge will meet with the judge of your accuser and they'll attempt to come to an agreement about the truth of the case.

After they've reached a verdict (or not) and decided on a sentence or compensation the case is resolved at the lowest possible level. If the family can deal with it, they will, if not they'll have to go begging to their extended family, sept or possibly even the entire clan.

Clans are a bit like insurers, they guarantee the behaviour of their members and if you get kicked out for being too big a liability it's essentially like being made an outlaw.
