Can't believe I can't buy a legal 409 public walkie talkie here in China in 2025. My friend will come to visit me soon, so I think a 409 license free radio should be useful for biking, since my friend doesn't have a ham license.
I search all major e-commerce platforms, and all the products are using the UHF band of amateur radio. And no seller mentioned the licensing stuff. So all the buyers are most likely using it illegally. The seller said the products are good for property, catering, hotels, and construction sites. No wonder I frequently hear weird conversations over the UHF band, and they never reply to me when I report my call sign.
The stupid Radio Management Committee in China can't control the sellers and can only fine the weak ones, the ham. If you abuse the UHF band at the construction site, you will be just educated. Of course they never listen. If a licensed and legal ham transmits in the UHF band in certain provinces, he will be fined 5000 yuan.
So this is China's amateur radio?

For those sellers, some of them are fairly popular in HAM group, like BaoFeng, QuanSheng(QUESUM), etc. This is why I never buy their products, they are polluting the ham bands by selling the product in an non-ethical way. All my gears are Yaesu (because I can't afford icom
)
About the price for the gears, just checked the latest ones from yaesu and I found I can't afford them either :(
The lens for my camera is eating my budget
