"Mastodon sucks because any one of the 5000+ communities can set their own rules and might accidentally deprive people in that community of my witty hot takes for a reason I personally believe to be flippant" isn't the sick burn that the Twitter user with 50k followers thinks it is.

@blaine
The worst option in Fediverse is the ability to block entire instances and for admins to use pre-made blacklists. To me it is inconceivable that so many people are pained by freedom of speech and thought. They think that locking themselves in a bubble of people who only agree with them is cool. All in all, that's why I chose qoto.org and 101010.pl so I wouldn't have to worry about what I write.

@sp6ina @blaine You're free to say whatever you want. You aren't free to make everyone listen to you. That's just an incredibly entitled definition of "free speech."

And nobody can restrict your freedom to think any thought you want. So what exactly is the problem?

@joseph8th
Believe me in Poland and not only non-stop instances are blocked because someone expressed his beliefs. And this instance all jet blocked because one user of the other wrote something that someone did not like. Idiocy, but this is the reality.
@blaine

@sp6ina @blaine Nice anecdote, but lacking context. What did they say that was so objectionable? Was the instance allowing toxic hate? There's a ton of self-identified Nazis in the #defederated #fediverse. Should we be forced to see their lies and propaganda? Hell no. Burn that ideology to the ground. No quarter given

@joseph8th
No exaggeration. There was no Nazism. It actually started because someone wrote that everyone has the ability to block or mute anyone if they don't like what they write. ;) No breaking the law, etc.
