I do have to admit tho, and I do not care what this says about me, I miss Target's gonzo Pride merch ( https://twitter.runhello.com/mcclure111/status/731654947402551296 ). Somebody was *getting away with something* there. Like, I don't believe the person who *approved* the Team Unicorn shirt knew what it meant. But I sincerely think the person who *designed* it did.
Also, while trying to find the Team Unicorn shirt linked above, I found this early-transition 2012 post and I feel sad cuz I only batted about 50% here.

This predates threading on Twitter, or predates me knowing how to use threading anyway, so I actually don't know the context.
Oh no… oh no. I did some digging and I reconstructed the thread and my 50% hit rate stands up in the most depressing way. I was right about having a Linux desktop, feeling safe wearing dresses to work, legally writing Mac software without Apple's permission, and being magical and a unicorn¹; and wrong about having legal rights, having a working crosscompiler, and being able to play the drums. Actually I use crosscompilers *less* now than in 2012.
¹ Although not for the same reasons as in 2012.
While pulling these up I *also* pulled up this prediction thread from 2015 where I pretty much 100% nailed forecasting the death of the tech industry by way of venture-capital autoasphyxiation. Like not that it was *hard* to predict this because I was mostly describing a process already ongoing at that point, but boyyy did that process ever come to dominate

@mcc “venture capital autoasphyxiation” is a great phrase.
