A reminder that just like nobody called it "World War 1" at the time, it wasn't called the "Play Station 1" until PS2 arrived. Later they did call it the "PSone" which is a terrible name - everyone is fired.

Annoyingly, you also can't call it the PSX because although that was its internal codename, there was an actual device on sale later called the "PSX", which confusingly is based around a PS2, not a PS1. Everybody still in the building is fired.
