Too bad the 6 Trumpies don’t care and won’t listen
Via Kyle Griffin:
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson tells CBS she supports an "enforceable code" of ethics for #SCOTUS justices.
"A binding code of ethics is pretty standard for judges, and so I guess the question is, 'is the Supreme Court any different?'"
"I guess I have not seen a persuasive reason as to why the [Supreme] Court is different than the other courts."
@DemocracyMattersALot
How dare Kamala Harris politicize an illegal political stunt!
I looked at his profile, and I didn’t see that Aryan Kampf had been suspended.
Oops, I mean Aaron Kempf.
"As of Monday, August 26, 2024, we can safely say that the NYTimes is an 'unserious newspaper.'
The NYT’s Monday edition included a guest essay by Rich Lowry entitled, Trump Can Win on Character. ...
When the Times opens its editorial pages to opinions that are objectively, demonstrably false and misleading, the Times should be viewed as approving of those opinions."

"Today, Rich Lowry, the editor of National Review (the flagship conservative magazine founded by William F. Buckley Jr.), published an article claiming that Donald Trump could win the 2024 election 'on character.'”
No, really."

Great interview with @Mer__edith in @WIRED from @agreenberg talking @signalapp, #surveillance, #privacy and #sustainability
"Signal is a nonprofit because a for-profit structure leads to a scenario where one of my board members goes to Davos, talks to some guy, comes back excitedly telling me we need an AI strategy for profit. Or another one of my board members comes in, gets really nervous that our revenue model, whatever it is, isn’t bringing in something that meets our goals and says, “Well, maybe we can start collecting metadata. Maybe we can reduce the focus on privacy, because of course our primary objective function, as a traditional for-profit, is revenue and growth.” And privacy in an economy powered by surveillance will necessarily hamper those."

.
Thanks. Most of those do indeed strike me as “shitty” (I’d have to read up on the CHIPS act). But you appear to have chosen Biden’s worst policies, and ignored the good ones, which are numerous.
@grumble209 @wdlindsy Which Biden policies are shitty?
I haven’t seen the New York Times mention the surge in voter registration among marginalized demographics or the number of volunteers for Harris. They do run lots of commentary about “vibes” or about how challenging the campaign will be (thanks, Nostradamus).
.
They disgraced themselves when Joe Biden was the candidate, but now they’re finding new ways to suck.
For the U.S. Senate, is the DSCC a good place to donate? The outcomes of recent elections suggest that they’ve invested their funds wisely.
@coreytrina Yes. Another place to donate for down ballot races is via #MastodonBlueWave at https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mastodonbluewave.
@heidilifeldman
For Harris to do that, it's going to require a Democrat-majority House and Senate, and that means donating to those races, and if you can, phone-banking and canvassing.
The link below is for excellent strategic donating recommendations from activist Jessica Craven

Nuts and bolts of what we funding the #Harris campaign to do: This week Harris and #Walz are going on a bus tour through Georgia. “The campaign is investing heavily in the Peach State with more than 170 Democratic campaign staffers in 24 coordinated campaign offices across the state.” https://flip.it/8L-xdQ
Winning Georgia is going to take a massive effort. Let’s make sure the campaign has all the resources necessary. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/mastodon-for-harris
TL;DR: European iPhones now offer exciting features like third-party app stores and customizable default apps, thanks to advanced regulations. Users are left wishing for similar freedoms in other regions, especially with retro game emulators available in the EU. https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/24/24226946/iphone-eu-regulation-app-stores-fortnite #law #tech #legaltech
