If your favorite messaging service has its own smartphone app then chances are you really shouldn't use it.
@swiley xmpp or matrix as a signal replacement? Are there any privacy risks in using these with a smartphone client?
@graymond I haven't looked too closely at either although it looks possible to use xmpp in a secure way between two people (the UX might not be nice though.) I've heard good things about matrix but really haven't used it at all.
@swiley thanks. I've heard about these two a lot since joining fedi and thought I would ask your opinion. Been somewhat concerned about Signal since its recent popularity explosion
