Supreme Court allows evictions to resume during pandemic
The Court's conservative majority blocked the Biden administration from enforcing a temporary ban in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The action ends protections for roughly 3.5 million people in the USA who said they face eviction in the next two months.
“If a federally imposed #evictions moratorium is to continue, Congress must specifically authorize it,” the court wrote.

@swiley yes. the entire "paying people to stay home" aspect of the pandemic has been horribly mishandled in the USA because the priority was always about the donor class and getting relief funds into crony pockets, never about helping ordinary people.
this includes (for example) small landlords renting out 2 units in the triplex they inhabit, and so on.
but even big landlords would face fewer problems if their tenants had been paid more than the fewest possible crumbs of aid.
