BREAKING: I am absolutely stunned by what I’m witnessing right now.
We are on a boat in the Rio Grande near the Del Rio international bridge and we are watching as masses of hundreds of migrants walk across the river from Mexico and stream into the US illegally.
Can we put some wall there? I guess not... Weird.... Can I just drive into or walk into Canada? I guess I can... Right? Is there a wall there? Not that I've heard...I wonder if I'd get in trouble somehow for trying. I have white privilege... Would that apply if I'm walking into Canada from say... North Dakota?
Shit...I never thought about before... Is walking into Canada a thing?
@macspace @DotardTed @billfoxla You can just drive to Canada, I've done it. The bridge I crossed had a border checkpoint (likely most roads do) and the cops gave me a pretty hard time for not having a reason other than "I just wanted to see what Canada is like."
@macspace @DotardTed @billfoxla I should clarify that it's hard/impossible now (especially without the vaccine) because of the covid nonsense. (This was in 2018, I'm glad I went in retrospect.)
If you kayak across instead of driving you don't have to take a covid test though for whatever reason.
