The answer to this mess is to peacefully agree to disagree and split the country.
@swiley Communists won't be happy with that. Much like they leave California to ruin other places, they'd do the same to other "countries" unless authoritarian immigration measures were introduced.
@swiley countries typically don't let random noncitizens vote.

@icedquinn @swiley suddenly I appreciate Heinlein again. "Service guarantees citizenship" isn't a bad idea, from a statist perspective.
I think what's happened in New York and California shows that you need some degree of immigration enforcement to prevent people who don't understand how free democracies work from overrunning and destroying them.
