@HisAndHearsePress We're discussing unusual ways of preserving bodies until a funeral is possible, remembering Nelson, of course, and thought about other methods. Do you know of any cases of preserving by smoking?

As for alternate means of preservation, we have no pressing need to experiment with new methods since our current ones serve us well enough (embalming and refrigeration). I haven’t heard of smoking a body, but I know that bodies abandoned in particular environments can essentially preserve themselves. Bodies in the desert can more or less mummify. The Egyptians used salt and sand. There are also cases of adipocere and bog bodies.
I hope they at least ran in through a strainer.
