The only bright color here is the stump of a wild black cherry tree.

I didn't know that they were that colour.
There's a large one on the edge of our "lawn" and several more within a few hundred metres, but all healthy so far.
@EricLawton The camera might have enhanced it a bit, but this is basically how the wood looks.
