I bought a Milesight sensor for my LoRaWAN experiments, but the way things are going now I sigh and call it Milesigh. Not easy to sensor the shit out of our wetlands for a beginner, who does not have a google account to get the app necessary to connect it to the gateway. I'll need a soldering iron. And a crash course in soldering. And glasses.
@szescstopni first I’d heard of that company. What kind of sensor is it? Do you have your own gateway or are relying on the public network? In Japan, #LoRaWAN is not as evolved as in Europe I suppose.
In the world of #LoRaWAN Milesight was formerly better known as Ursalink.
I'd guess, they currently have one of the most complete product portfolios in the fields of LoRaWAN ...
@manankanchu but their website is horrible to navigate. Not saying others, for example Dragino are much better. Why do companies like Milesight try to hide where they are based and what their products cost? You’ve ordered sensors directly from them?
Well, we weren't too happy with Dragino .. distance sensors weren't too reliable ...
Milesight is too big to sell directly to private customers ... that's probably why their webpage is more brand related than product oriented. And yes, the page is not really helpful for #IoT 😋 ... After their merger with Ursalink and Yeacom their product portfolio goes far beyond IoT.
I frequently work for a company in Switzerland and they buy directly from Milesight.

Why do you write, they hide, where they are based? Click on "contact" on their webpage ... they are Chinese ...
@manankanchu I got knarlee up in their obligatory cookies. That always sets my expectations of a website quite poorly 🍪
@manankanchu thank you for sharing your experiences. I’m still plugging away at #LoRa but try to keep posted about #LoRaWAN for a possible future adoption.
@manankanchu an acquaintance is the Japan rep for Dragino and he speaks quite well about them (for obvious reasons), so it’s very interesting to hear about your experiences.
@RoboticistDuck I don't know whta happened but I haven't seen your toot at the time you sent it. Own gateway – nothing public yet in my forest :)
@szescstopni Would be awesome if you could write up your plans and outcomes with LoRaWAN somewhere, I want to start learning the basics with it
I still can't get this sensor to connect to the gateway, but I see connection attempts and they include rssi and snr, and that's all I need right now.
