The office view today. Something seemed off, a few pixels were different.

My wife took a look at another image from the series and asked if this blob in the lower left corner could be a northern lapwing (Vanellus vanellus). She thought she heard one earlier today. It would be great if we had them here, they're losing their habitats quickly.

What kind of deer is that? Looks very different to me from the whitetails I'm used to.

@szescstopni
I haven't been over that way to see any yet. Very cool, thank you!

@CedarTea Europe has much better things than roe deer. Like universal healthcare :) Not all of it, but all EU countries do.

@CedarTea Oh, wait, you're from Canada, so you know this too :)

@szescstopni
Not for long if our politicians have their way with it. We probably won't lose our deer though!

@CedarTea You might lose your deer if your politicians find out that's the best way to get farmers' votes.

@szescstopni
Probably not the whitetails. They'll live pretty much anywhere. Incredibly adaptive critters. Can't be said of the moose or caribou though... they're not doing so well.

@CedarTea Right, I get some info on Caribou in Canada. Sad.

@szescstopni
Yeah, it's a big place and there are a lot of different herds which are in various states of endangerment. But overall they're getting hit hard.

@CedarTea I saw what ticks do to moose and deer now that it's warmer. We fucked up this place.

@szescstopni
Yes the ticks have been bad, as has the logging. Plus parasitic brainworm and chronic wasting disease. We're pretty terrible neighbours honestly.
