In the US, there may be up to 2 billion parking places. That’s more than six spaces for every registered car. That’s an area of land the size of Connecticut and Vermont combined. Making cities hotter, floods worse, accommodation more expensive and killing life. Land use impacts climate. A forest is infinitely better for our environment than a car park. We are paving ourselves to extinction.

@gerrymcgovern
Are you sure?
Isn't that 20cm² per parking space?
Connecticut (14,356km²) + Vermont (24,923km²) = 39,279
39,279 / 2,000,000,000 = 0.000019 km²

This doesn't account for multistory parking but there would need to be some very tall car parks.

@Nina_cried @gerrymcgovern I am not a US resident, but why do you have 300 million cars in the first place! And maybe reduce the size of each parking slot to promote smaller cars.
