While content is federated currently, #identity isn’t. And while that doesn’t diminish the decentralized nature of the #fediverse, having a single identity — that a user fully controls — would make it easier to sign up for multiple apps. My analysis of recent discussions here featuring @evanprodromou, @rabble, @deadsuperhero, @timbray, @osma & others. https://thenewstack.io/one-login-towards-a-single-fediverse-identity-on-activitypub/
@ricmac @evanprodromou @deadsuperhero @timbray @osma I’m really excited about how my post has been kicking off a discussion about how the fediverse can improve. I personally see us all as part of team open and that it increasingly feels like AP is going to be the social protocol interchange. And if that’s the case, it needs to be better at a lot of stuff. Unfortunately I’m very heads down in a raise and can’t engage enough on this.
@deadsuperhero
Hi. Do you see any change in the very apparent NIH syndrome in the open social software development space?
This is in the context of Mike Macgirvin's specs and designs and rationales being ingnored repeatedly then and now; and he has apparently even stepped back from atleast his AP #NomadicIdentity efforts, which he had to start rather than developers standing on the shoulders of his work.
