@palin It’s a dictatorship without freedom of speech or assembly. It has a lower democracy score than we do. LGBTQ rights are poor, the government collects biometric data on citizens, there’s widespread racism, and the government is killing Uyghurs.

To be fair, I think bringing in the non-democracy in another country was the whataboutism. Many nations are violent with long violent histories, but that has no bearing on quality of living. Even Singapore, and some conservative Muslim "democracies", for example, also have good quality of living.
