I am really happy with how Lemmy works, as a more focused place for discussion in general.

I wonder why I have to use Mastodon too, though, for just the odd feature not in Lemmy. It looks like Lemmy is only a small step away from being a better Mastodon too - support posting outside of communities, and subscribing to accounts.

BTW, in a network with , using both and (and , etc.) wouldn't be an issue.

CC @strypey for comments 🙂

@Mrfunkedude
Thanks. Is it using ActivityPub the same way as Lemmy does?

@tetrislife Yep. piefed.social/ Anything on Lemmy you should be able to see on PieFed. It's just a better interface IMHO.

@tetrislife No doubt I've commented on this before, many times. But I think one of the things the design of ATProto and Nostr get right is clearly separating identity and user data, from apps and interfaces.

What I'd like to be able to do is login to a PieFed or PeerTube web app using my Mastodon account. In theory, doing this is compatible with ActivityPub. But there's no consensus yet on how to transition to a fediverse where that's the norm.

@strypey you don't need consensus to start off, just an implementation in one app, which seems to be doing by evolving / to use ActivityPub.

Hubzilla and streams both support AP. I'm guessing what Forte is doing is implementing the FEPs that adapted Zot/ Nomad features like Nomadic Identity and Channel Cloning to work with AP;
