I generally agree with this, but there’s some leaps in here that I don’t think follow the previous. Yes, we should write smaller, simpler apps — things like Electron are terrible for everyone and they’re wasting energy on compute and memory, too.
Rust has its own hurdles to jump through to understand the problem and rewrite things in, and one reason we all wanted to get away from C was the memory safety issues and the complexity that quickly builds. So what else, among the current crop of compiled and type safe systems programming languages, should we look at as another alternative that will let us write small, safe, simple software?
