I only started using bit torrent because all my friends were doing it - I couldn't resist the peer to peer pressure.

I am VERY happy and proud to announce the public release of the "OpenBSD Webzine" !

Here is my beginner's understanding, based on information I've collected from Mike and others over the past few years:

Hubzilla is a decentralized secure content management system that can do lots of things including social media.

The Zap family inherits many features from Hubzilla (and improves on them) but is primarily a social media platform. Zap is where new development occurs. Misty is something like "Zap stable", with only thorougly-tested new features. Osada and Redmatrix are updated with current performance and security patches so that they can be safely used and forked. Ditto for Redmatrix, but it has only Zot and not ActivityPub. Roadhouse is the start of a new thing.

That's all I know, and most of it is probably wrong. :-)

Some notes on Hypercard, a portable way to share apps with their (top-level) source code accessible to others.

Amazing!

Greetings, people! I am a software developer. Outside of work, I use free/libre software almost exclusively. I am pained that we continue to allow nature and community to get degraded by crony individualism. We can do much better, e.g. the voluntary refugee concept.

I have been chuffed with the almost all of the time I have been on it. There is plenty of food for thought in many a toot out there. I am having to move off @wyatwerp now, and really happy to find a Fediverse instance that ... uh ... federates.
