How is it 2020 and the only acceptable mail client is (neo)mutt?

Runners up:

Mailpile -- too unstable and the single developer (although pretty cool) is definitely not enough.

Gmail web interface -- no PGP support and, well, you are not really running it, are you?

@timorl now that I've moved from 7 to Linux I'm considering moving from Thunderbird to NeoMutt.

I hope importing my gigabytes of mail archives won't be a pain.

@polychrome
If thunderbird fits your workflow I am not sure it is worth it. Configuring mutt is a pain, the documentation is not as friendly as you would expect if you are used to e.g. vim. I tried out thunderbird while looking for a client and the only reason I didn't decide on it was that there was no clear way I could convince it to do what I want, or whether it was possible at all.

@timorl yeah I'm fairly comfy with Thunderbird but it's not very responsive at times and worse the email search function is terrible.

For casual type mail reading it's just fine tho!

@timorl i like claws-mail but it's reputedly no good if you have a super high volume of email; my inboxes only get a moderate amount of traffic so its good enough for me (shame about the weak gssapi support tho)
