I am sure the fact that the Chinese government gets annoyed by actions against the totally separate and independent American TikTok company is just a coincidence.

Uh, have you heard about the WTO? It's basically *only* governments arguing about how their company is being treated unfairly...
For example: here you have the EU, complaining to the WTO, that a US law means the (EU based) company that had the right to the "Havanna Club" trademark has lost that asset
