ICJ, Palestine

@pettter
word is in, the official line is "they didn't order a crease fire, everything is fine"

(Israel called the UN anti-semitic or something, I didn't read their statement closely)

@telescoper
no, follow the instructions as usual, but use the oven of the upstairs neighbors.

@RichPuchalsky
Well, they had to rule it was _plausible_ that a genocide is taking place because South Africa brought the case under the genocide convention.

If the court didn't find it plausible that a genocide was ongoing they probably wouldn't have ordered Israel to do anything at all.

There's another buried story here about the ICC prosecutor just completely failing to take any actions, which is why it is South Africa being the country bringing the complaint to this court.

@RichPuchalsky
Mainly I think it is that it took like an hour for the pdf to appear on the ICJ website, and it was struggling hour at that.

Maybe the newsrooms that didn't race to put something out as soon as the reading started will have links from the start?

The other side of the misunderstanding of fascism is the misunderstanding of Leninism. This political party which formed governments in USSR and China wasn't something that Lenin made in a laboratory.

As a historical phenomenon 'Leninism' really refers to Lenin's skill in opportunistically making use of the enormous forces that the Russian popular revolution unleashed. His party successfully channeled, dominated and then destroyed these popular forces.

@pettter
i think the line is "the ICJ did not order a cease fire, what can we do?"

I propose the idiom “leave the wolf,” possibly accompanied by “Why do we need a wolf?,” after this comic:

Is that feed on an entirely different screen in your... extensive social media setup, or can it sit next to the others without causing cancer?

@elizabethtasker
With that sort of trickster mascot it seems entirely expected that SLIM would land on its head, just look at them!

I'm trying to imagine that character carefully doing any delicate tasks, but it always ends with some zany disaster ;)

Not kidding about SLIM landing on its head... here is picture! This was taken by LEV-2 (SORA-Q) that adorbs transformer robot carried by SLIM that looks like a ball and then springs open to roll wild across the lunar surface and take photos as the mood takes it.

Clearly, it found this pretty funny and it autonomously selected this shot to send back to Earth.

There's a press release here that HQ can't be bothered to post the English.

We have two new adopted missions!

#LISA will capture the ripples of spacetime, all the way from from supermassive black holes colliding to the gravitational ‘ringing’ from the initial moments of our Universe ▶️ esa.int/Science_Exploration/Sp

And #EnVision will head to #Venus, to study it from the atmosphere to the inner core: ▶️ esa.int/Science_Exploration/Sp

No, I asked a question and you didn't answer it, why would you say I was claiming something?
@kevinrothrock

@pixelpusher220
When I asked for the "particular bit of it" I mean of the actual text, not a piece of folklore.
@kevinrothrock

@pixelpusher220
How? What particular bit of it specifically has opinions on how you load your transport vehicles?

Ukraine’s Main Intel Directorate officially comments on today’s failed prisoner exchange, saying it did its part and delivered Russian POWs to the swap location but Moscow never told Kyiv to hold its fire against transport planes in Belgorod’s airspace. t.me/DIUkraine/3356

Just like human beings are simply the only remaining example of what used to be a whole variety of hominids, 'Nazism' and fascism are just the most successful of a whole range of racist national-conservative movements with socialist and liberal elements that rose throughout the 100 years between the revolutions of 1848 and their defeat in 1945.

So when we try to understand current racist national-conservative politics we're hamstrung, because we're constantly comparing it to some ultimate form.

känns det rätt svajigt: de tre sista sekunderna av ett krashande plan är inte direkt dess avsedda flygrutt... att vända riktning när du får problem i luften är inte direkt ovanligt
