Don't get me wrong! The ability to craft emacs into a very powerful tool that helps me get stuff done is amazing.

I'm reflecting on how easy it is to end up only doing 'meta work' or improving configuration over actually using the tool to get the actual work done.

It is a personal flaw, but given how much emacs is a tool which appeals to people who enjoy tinkering for it's own sake I'm probably not alone in this behavior / struggle. :-)
