Just got to know that the organizers don't have any more funds for fee waivers. Why are EMBO events so costly? Science is expensive. :(

EXCLUSIVE: When the Jan 6. committee wanted to test how easy it was for TikTok users to wander down a far-right rabbit hole, they tried an experiment. They created Alice, a fictional 41-year-old, gave her a TikTok account, and tracked what the social media app showed her.

To their surprise, it only took 75 minutes of scrolling — with no interaction or cues about her interests — for the platform to serve Alice videos featuring Nazi content.

@tonic
This looks good. Thanks for creating and posting it.
I have one ailing plant, and your app gave sound results.
That last question, though: "Ec , Ppi , Run Off & Training Technique" , I don't know what any of those refer to, so couldn't give any useful input.

Hey there folks,

Tired of having dying plants around the house or garden ? Cant figure out why some plants make it and some plants die ?

I made a Plant Diagnosis and Doctor app that does a very good job of diagnosing and suggesting remedies for ailing plants.

I got really good feedback , so i'm sharing it with you , for the first time right here on mastodon !

check it out here : cookup.ai/a/bulbi-plant-doctor

Feedback is welcome so please Toot and Boost at will, you are the very first folks to see the public beta published ;-)

@tonic i like it.. can diagnose with incomplete input boxes - test example below was quite what I was looking for

"...it is likely that the tomato plant is suffering from a fungal disease, specifically Septoria lycopersici. This is a common fungal disease that affects tomato plants and is characterized by dark spots on the underside of the leaves. To fix this, it is important to ensure proper air circulation around the plant and to avoid overhead watering. Pruning away affected leaves is also recommended. Additionally, using a fungicide can help to control the disease. "

if you use it and you like it, share it in your local community if you want 😅 i really think it turns out GPT3 "solved" the plant diagnosis much better than other solutions , so let's make history and of course "you heard it on first!"

@tonic Is that temporary while she preps for whatever treatment she needs? I assume she has cancer since you hashtagged it. I have #GravesDisease #Graves so don’t know about cancer aspects. For me, I just need to avoid large sources of iodine such as seaweed. You’re very thoughtful to come up with a special diet!

@tonic of you write « in Spanish » instead of week number it will be in Spanish , if you write « Lebanese recipes » or « with ginger and curry » it Will understand that 😅💪🏻👍🏻

hey there, so it turns out my wife is one of those folks that cant eat anything because of her hyperthyroidism. that's because she cant eat iodine but there's iodine in everything in modern society. None of the tasty stuff she can eat, and especially none of the easy stuff to make she can eat. So i made a thing that generates "no iodine recipes" check it out here : cookup.ai/a/low-iodine-diet-re maybe you'll need this diet one day if you need certain surgeries or treatments for thyroid disease . Just this simple diet really helps us keep her off the chopping block / radioactive iodine tx . I'm going to generate one and use the shopping list , maybe y'all will find it interesting to use AI for foodies stuff, hopefully some of the recipes will actually be tasty too ♥️🍽

In this , my goal is for you to learn how to think about and apply the tools of bacterial molecular genetics to solve scientific problems, and then to use that knowledge to build a strong foundation of understanding the molecular mechanisms by which grow, function, and cause . To achieve this goal, we will need to build your skills in two fundamental areas:

• Scientific literacy: understanding what is and isn’t known, how those facts fit into the larger framework of scientific knowledge, and how to search and read the scientific literature

• Scientific proficiency: understanding how to design, carry out, and interpret experiments, knowing what tools you have available and creatively applying those tools to answer specific questions

The product of scientific work is knowledge. I want to give you the tools to effectively access and add to that knowledge. By the end of this course, I want you to:

• be able to define the steps of the scientific method and develop models and hypotheses based on data

• know where to find information about bacterial and

• be able to use and understand the nomenclature of bacterial genetics

• understand the principles of mutagenesis and genetic engineering in microbes

• know how to interpret mutant phenotypes in different kinds of genes and with different kinds of mutations

• have a good working knowledge of bacterial physiology and cell biology

• be able to design rigorous experiments to solve biological problems using bacterial genetics
