Weird question, which is not a critique: what's the deal on fantasy or magical realism settings changing a vowel or vowel pair to "ae" as in fairy-->faery or faerie or demon-->daemon, ether-->aether. As far as I can tell, although ae is a vowel in Old English, most modern ae words are Greek-derived.
