Acting your wage will atrophy your abilities.
This is a hard truth to swallow for those people toiling away in a job where their value isn't being compensated accordingly.
But it is true nonetheless. Don't hurt yourself to spite them. Stay on top of your game while looking for a better employer.
I agree that it sounds like "management-speak." I'm a manager, so... yeah. Why trust me? Because I've been there. It's one reason I'm focusing my career more on management now. To be part of the good side.

CloudRun - the king of hosted containers without k8s - just got very much better. Again.
Announcing "sidecar" containers:

Dangers of Decentralization?
This article makes some good points, but honestly my experience has been the opposite.
I’ve yet to find an instance filled with right-wing hate. Not that I’ve looked for one. But I haven’t even found many good Christian instances either.
What I have found is instances that will call someone “hateful” for simply believing that only women should be in the women’s restroom. You can say whatever hateful things you want about Elon or Donald, but if you even dare to humbly disagree with the trans community on anything at all, chances are you’ll be banned. The Fediverse is filled with instances like this. And that’s how it should be.
Of course I know why this is, and it’s a good thing. Fediverse servers are not run by giant corporations looking to make money. They are run by individuals looking to have a social impact. I think this is a great thing. A person spending their time, effort, and money to promote their own agenda.
This is what the internet is for!

Plan to End Early - I love it!
This article gives some tips for “inclusive scheduling.” It all seems good to me, but one thing in particular stands out, and I’m going to try to do this going forward:
Try on purpose to make the meeting end early.
There are so many benefits. It allows people to hit the restroom between meetings, or grab a drink. It allows “social” time while still in the meeting if desired.
Good stuff all around. Give it a read!

Twitter Might Survive After All?
I’m fully in love with the Fediverse now, but I also have to admit that my Twitter experience has only gotten better in the past few months. And I don’t even have a blue check!
Building Relationships Through One-on-Ones
This article gives some good tips on how to make sure your 1:1 meetings are worthwhile. One thing in particular I love is that the 1:1 meeting should not be a status update or even have the manager’s agenda at all.
I make sure everyone knows that 1:1 meetings with me are THEIR time, not mine. I come with no agenda. If they have nothing to talk about, we can simply smile and let them take the time to go grab an extra cup of coffee or whatever. The time is already booked on their calendar so no one else will bug them.

The VSCode extension for working with Make and Makefiles has some cool updates. You can read about them here:
This article talks about a good team-building technique to use during some meetings. The article says to do it during the daily stand-up which is an incredibly bad idea IMHO, but would be nice in a weekly or bi-weekly team meeting.
