This place still exists, it's called Monsters Park, in Bomarzo, a few km from Rome.
@SierraKiloBravo What was the purpose of the Monsters Park? Or was it just decorative?
@trinsec The garden was commissioned in 1552 by Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, and was "an expression of grief designed to shock" due a series of tragedies that befell him.
