@trinsec@qoto.org Heya again, after our recent talk about Trackballs I decided to give the Kensington Expert a try since I really liked the Orbit and would have probably kept using that if it had more buttons as I got the text selection issues and so on that I stated figured out. So far though (after a few hours only, for context) I honestly have to say i'm not really feeling the Expert all that much - the ball is heavy (due to size) and thus more difficult to move and the additional buttons feel awkward or difficult to reach (and pressing any of them simultaneously does not seem doable for now). Since you brought Elecom to my attention, I looked into that brand some more too before I got the Expert and I actually just found out that apparently the Elecom trackball software supports gestures. Gestures are probably the feature I love most about the mouse series I come from - the Logitech MX Master series (think i've mentioned that) - so I'm currently gathering more information about that and depending on the result of that will most likely give either the Deft Pro or the Huge a shot.
Just wanted to give ya a heads up on that as well as a thanks for letting me know about Elecom.

Bummer about the Expert not working out for you, but I'm kinda not too surprised since they looked clumsy from what I could see. The ball of the Expert being too heavy I didn't expect, thanks for mentioning that!
I've never delved into gestures before, d'you think I should take a look at that feature as well?
Little trivia: Apparently the balls from the M570 can fit in a few of the Elecom models too. :D Well, then I've got plenty of spare balls lying around. :P
@robflop Oh, so gestures are basically just like hotkeys? Whoopsie... except I don't know of a spare button on my M570 to use for this, mrm. But with the Elecoms you should be drowning in buttons anyway, so no issue there at all! :D
@trinsec@qoto.org Yup, exactly! I do like the general shape/design of the Kensington's more as they look kind of fancier all around, but I am definitely willing to give that up for more buttons that I can comfortably use as well as gestures. Elecom seems like a treasure trove in regards to that.
Also, I just got a reply from someone I wrote to about the software and it does seem like it acts the way I'm imagining it! So that's a big relief. From what I can see, Amazon Germany actually has the Wired Elecom Huge up for only ~52€ including import costs (though the shipping is both long and expensive at roughly two weeks and ~13 euros) and the Deft Pro at 67€ (however with free shipping within two days), so I will definitely keep a close eye on those while I try the Expert for a day or two more.
Considering the Deft Pro's ball is 44mm, which is close to the Orbit's ball size, i might go with the Deft Pro rather than the Huge myself, as the Huge is about the size of the Expert.

About the ball on the Expert, it could just be a personal preference thing. I thought the ball on the Orbit had the perfect weight - it didn't feel too heavy or too light to turn - but the Expert's ends up feeling clunky to me due to it being bigger and heavier.
As for gestures: If you have a use-case, they're insanely comfortable. On my MX Master I used the thumb button as an all-around media control gesture button in which a click would mute/unmute my microphone in Discord (via key shortcut), Click + Up would Pause/Play my music, Click + Down would mute my PC's volume and Click + Left/Right would move between previous/next song. It's absolutely dreamy to use, so if you have any use-case like that one I would highly recommend you look into setting them up.
