@kaidamitsuki I'm reading https://www.tofugu.com/learn-japanese/ which has (extremely silly) mnemonic stories. I remember the stories more than the actual drawings. 😂 But it does help!
I use their review site as well, which is pretty good for reviewing afterwards. I also have 3 apps on my phone which teaches me how to draw and to remember what those drawings look like. Every bit helps.
I think I'm sticking with those those 30 letters for now until I'm really familiar with them, especially the last 10 I'm extremely shaky on right now. If I /see/ them I'd recognize them, but if you tell me 'ho' or 'na' I will have to think real hard what the symbols are like. I still need to make a comfortable two way street in my brain.
The only disadvantage here is that it's impossible for me to learn how they're pronounced. So I can't really rely on that mnemonic very well 'hey, this is a SIGN but it sounds like SA!'.... I really have to memorize that seperately.
Plus English isn't my native language.... so a 'NU' for NOODLE I really have to remember that the English just cannot spell phonetically. 😋
