You see, I often wonder why the army aren't deployed more often to sort things out. They are not only there to interfere in other people's countries and kill civilians; they can also provide aid to civilians.

I wonder why they are not used more. Is it because the UK doesn't have an effective army? Or problems are allowed to occur deliberately? Or maybe using the army looks like weakness?

@lydiaconwell Trouble with using the army for everything is that it 'kills competition'. It can kill an economy.
And said competition needs to pay up their workers more so that there wouldn't be a shortage to begin with.

@trinsec Yeah, so using the army is bad for business ...

That makes sense. I think that the army could have been used to feed vulnerable people during the lockdowns and also administer the vaccine more quickly.

But then companies would lose out ...

@lydiaconwell The army here have been used to help with the vaccinations until our own infrastructure could take over, so that's not a bad idea. After all, it's a pandemic.

But the deliveries of food? There's plenty of online ordering possible around here, so using the army for that wouldn't make sense. I don't know how it is over there though, but I'd think there's plenty of online businesses able to deliver food over there as well?

... Well, maybe not _now_ anymore with the shortage of drivers, heh.

@trinsec There's no so much a problem with food here ... so far ... but with #Brexit there is a lack of lorry drivers so there might be.

But there are lots of people living in poverty, and people relying on food banks. There's always a need to help the vulnerable but this government is allowing those people to remain in poverty.
