@lydiaconwell I prefer if those comedies wouldn't put in [audience laughs] as closed captions, that's hugely distracting and annoying to me. I get the hint when something is meant to be funny. And if I don't, then it obviously wasn't _that_ funny!
@trinsec I'm not so keen on the current trend in sitcoms. They tend to be about bothersome, 1st-world-problems about boring middle class people who work in media or something. They tend to have no laughter track.
But they're really not all that funny, so maybe laughter isn't the right response.
Modern sitcoms seem to aim at a kind of banal realism rather than making silly things happen to the characters.
