After World War II, in 1948, Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie formed Ethiopian World Federation(EWF), where in response to perceived racism in United States, set up 500 acres of fertile land in Shashamane for African Americans who wish to return to #Africa.

@trinsec Very few came and they became elites, others went back after sometimes when Ethiopia was ravaged by civil war, that ousted Emperor Selassie, Marxists led by Mengistu Haile Mariam did away with political elites and nationalised private lands.
