New Texas social media law just dropped. Completely undefined how it affects the Fediverse. https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/872/billtext/html/HB00020I.htm

It only affects sites with > 50K users, but a “user” is “a person who posts, uploads, transmits, shares, or otherwise publishes or receives content through a social media platform.”

So is a remote user a “user”? (I’d say so). Okay so the Fediverse has more than 50K users. Who is now liable for it?

Also it says you can’t censor people. But you can censor them if they’re pedophiles or doing something illegal.
