@lydiaconwell Yeah, if your server doesn't support it, you'd just see a link. Which is, by the way, all there really is to it. In essence a quote-toot is just your comment with a link in a certain style so that servers which do support it just uses little javascript/css magic to show it as a quote toot.

Never understood why people were so against it because anyone can post something and link to it.

@trinsec Well quoting does encourage shitty behaviour. It's a bit like, Look at this jerk ⬇️

I'd dare say a quotetoot is actually better than this what you now see. If you're quoting a person I've blocked, I'd see 'Message is blocked' or something like that. But with a link I don't know for sure whether I've blocked that person, and would possibly click on it to see what you'd be talking about, and then see stuff I don't want to see.

And most people on my server uses it to spotlight another toot, which has a bit more impact than a boost because a boost is only for their followers while a quotetoot is a brand new post with a link. More exposure.

I'd say... let the moderators moderate, and if it is a shit-toot, report it and let them actually do their job?

@lydiaconwell (With a shit-toot I mean one breaking rules, like harassment. Not just a 'look at this jerk', heh.)
