👆 That's in a nutshell my own criticism of those advocating the end of #capitalism. WDTY?
Of course, I agree that capitalism has flaws and presents unique risks, and that it has to be regulated and improved ([eg](https://qoto.org/@tripu/104329974109905059), [eg](https://qoto.org/@tripu/104862990311853225)). But that's also true about so many great ideas and institutions we have, and yet calling for their _disappearance_ would be naïve and reckless.
Democracy can degenerate in populism or end up oppressing minorities, the Law may serve to enshrine discrimination or injustice, Science can bring about disasters or unethical developments… — yet there are no viable alternatives to those.
How are #privateproperty, #freemarkets, voluntary cooperation, and private contracts (ie, Capitalism) any different to the above? What would you replace them with?
