I have decided to consciously experiment with different ways to incorporate #AI tools into my workflow, for instance just by leaving up a browser tab to various instances of these tools in case I find the inspiration. This morning I decided to feed some paragraphs of a letter of reference I had just written to #DeepL https://www.deepl.com/write to see what improvements it would make. Due to the confidential nature of the letter I cannot share screenshots here, but it suggested stylistic or grammatical alterations to many of the sentences, about half of which I agreed with and incorporated, and the other half felt to not be consistent with my personal style and disregarded. In particular, I did not view blindly replacing my original paragraph with the DeepL-generated alternative as an improvement, but (as with the previous post) using it as an initial source of suggestions to refine further was productive. (On the other hand, the refinement process was a bit time consuming, and given that this particular letter was only going to be read by a handful of people, I decided to only polish the first two paragraphs of the letter this way before sending it off. But for a more public-facing document, I think I would try out such tools more extensively.)
