I have Type 1 diabetes. I am healthy enough to run ultramarathons.
If I get attacked by a bear & the ICU has trouble managing my blood sugar while caring for my bear attack wounds...and I die... the bear is the cause of my death.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk. #COVID19
@wjmaggos But that doesn't seem very likely. The number the cdc is saying is 94% of covid deaths have at least one other cause of death listed
take a guess on how many death certificates generally list multiple causes of death?
@wjmaggos Probably more than 6
@wjmaggos i doubt taking out sudden deaths would change the data that much as theyre such a small portion of all deaths
@wjmaggos i wonder if the numbers are similar for covid and something like pneumonia that also has a tendancy to affect older people
@valleyforge that's my thought but I don't think they have those stats.
@valleyforge
Yes but not by a crazy amount imo. I understand the freakout when people already skeptical of how dangerous the disease is hear that 94% of COVID deaths also have other causes, but I think it sounds less crazy when you realize 66% of all deaths list multiple causes. And I've gotta think if you take out sudden deaths (like fall or gunshot etc), the % is even higher.
