Actually it's great, saw it years ago. But his take on #Cuties on today's #POTP is ridiculous for the same reason. #CancelNetflix is cancel culture. Let's make filming kids "sexually" illegal instead.
@wjmaggos I don't think boycotts are cancel culture. Boycotts are a centuries old strategy. Cancel culture is calling out average people and attacking them usually by calling or messaging their employer, for political disagreements
Cancel culture is trying to silence some kind of free expression you don't like, by pressuring individuals or groups. For them, it has the added bonus of creating a climate of fear so others don't express themselves either. It's a way to do what they can't do with government because of the 1A.
Boycotts used that way are part of the problem.
We must also consider how attention is allocated, and decentralize it. Entities with lots of attention now have the power to cancel at will.
