https://shop.waltherarms.com/q-series-rds-backup-sights-rmr-footprint Walther finally decided to do something about the lack of the rear sight on Q5. Ian McCollum published a video that explains why the iron sights remain critically important on handguns with optical sights more than 4 years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3ogBYjTQqk #guns #銃

@gat mine comes with one. Or does that mean have the iron and the optical sight at the same time? I hope this one you're talking about is one of the choices for the free one

@su Take a look at the video that I linked, but skip all the context and start at offset 6 min 20 sec. That is where Ian explains what Walther did wrong initially.

@valleyforge @gat

According to the comments at the time of this 4 year old video, he carried a Glock. Someone said that sounds like mario andretti driving a honda civic

@su That comment does sound stupid now, but it was posted before the U.S. market Civic Type R was introduced, so we can forgive it. Note that Ian actually explains on video why he was carrying G19 as a host of Suarez slide. In addition Ian's tastes are a little... different. I happen to know that he carried Remington Model 51 a few years before. You'd think an antique like that belonged in a museum.

@gat @su Remington make a new version of the 51 a few years ago. Perhaps he meant that?

@valleyforge @su The "new" Remington R51 inherits the mechanism of Model 51, but does not have anything in common with it beyond the unusual operating system. R51 was possibly the worst mass market gun of the last 50 years and did more to damage Remington's reputation than uncommanded discharge of 700/710s.
