Judge Judy is not even a real court and Judy isn’t a real judge. She’s a ‘former Manhattan family court judge’, but on the show she does arbitration. This really confused me as a kid when I learned there’s normally supposed to be a jury in a court. It’s a fun show, but bad for legal literacy.
