So the state can mandate that a 14 year old girl carry the pregnancy forced upon her by a rapist to term and endure delivery at her age, BUT the state CANNOT mandate that same girl wear a mask at school, because that's too great a burden for the state to impose. WHAT?

@wjmaggos You're ignoring the actual argument that pro-life people are making. They believe that abortion is murder. Argue against that instead of whatever this is

@valleyforge

I like the simple mental experiment of asking people whether they'd save a baby or thousands of fetuses. As the fetuses get closer to viability, honest answers on all sides change. So it's murder kinda. Doesn't rape also change what burden we think the state can impose on the girl? Isn't that worse than a mask? Isn't a mask (or even a vaccine) a reasonable imposition on our freedom to help protect others? Life is not made of the black and white that ideologues love to paint with.

@wjmaggos Pretending to be an extremely pro-life person I would say that the state isn't imposing anything on the girl, the rapist is. The state is just enforcing the "don't murder" law.

@valleyforge

would you save the fetuses over the baby? what should be the punishment for the girl? should miscarriages be investigated? can we place legal limits on pregnant women's possibly dangerous activities? wouldn't questions of exposing oneself to COVID or the vaccines (however you want to define that) count?
