Crazy rich bastards are pledging to spend a little bit to do good cause they're scared we're coming to take it all and leave them just like any other small business owner who worked their ass off. But it ain't gonna work. You got lucky and our democracy shouldn't suffer for that.

my contention is that in our system, massive wealth translates to massive power. for the right, Soros and Gates are the scary ones. I don't care. that kind of money gives them too much ability compared to the rest of us to: propagandize the public, get people elected, fund movements, influence science and govt officials etc. it almost doesn't matter what they do, half of the electorate will assume they are behind a conspiracy and only do the opposite of whatever they support.
