Hello
@SpaceLifeForm
I am following you and I receive your posts replies but not the whole thread which is strange and inconvenient #ux #mastodon
e.g:
@SpaceLifeForm The links I mention in the example are direct links to your toot from your instance, can you open them in a private window, so you might then see what I can not see.
The strange thing here is that the toot looks like a reply and technically I should not get your reply toot in my timeline and I get only your reply toot not the whole thread.
It started here
hXXps://kolektiva.social/@Objectpermanence/109542099276192276
Many servers are pretty slow right now, so I can not even see the entire thread at this time.
@SpaceLifeForm @voidabyss not sure. From the look of things, it appears that some times you respond to a post by essentially starting a new post, rather than replying. I can say for sure that is what is happening, just that it looks like it.
> it appears that some times you respond to a post by essentially starting a new post, rather than replying.
Is this a bug or normal behavior?
@voidabyss @SpaceLifeForm PEBKAC is my guess :)
@jerry @SpaceLifeForm I find it very hard to miss the reply button but okay some might do 🤷♂️
@voidabyss How about writing your reply in a way that it stands on its own? Take this as an example: https://home.social/@michael/109529692472989040
Nope. I did reply in the thread.
If I would start a new thread, maybe going off topic a bit, I would include a link back to the original thread.
It has something to do with hashtags I believe. Adding a hashtag in a reply to an existing thread, that never had that hashtag.
Hope that makes sense.
@SpaceLifeForm @voidabyss odd. Giving it a shot now. #neversawitbefore
I #NeverSawItBefore either.
Void, I guess you never saw my question:
Are you not just following me, but also following a hashtag (that shall not be named at this time)?
> If you want to see an entire thread then you have to go to the original thread on the specific instance.
@Fez how can you find the original thread if you only have a reply?
@voidabyss
Well, I can not see what you did not see, but it may be just the case that due to propagation delays between instances, posts had not appeared yet.
If you are using browser, in AWI mode, and you click on the menu icon under the post, and pick 'expand this post', that will help. Even then, it may not be immediate.
