@nosherwan @thomasreggi Jack has been working on a competitor to ActivityPub based fediverse.
But no, I don't think the post made Elon upset. I think Elon shares a lot of Jack's ideas and considers them to be working in the same direction.
@thomasreggi @volkris Jack's ideology is probably not as rotten as Melon Tusk's.
I know Jack has something to do with BlueSky, but I have never heard of Revue.
@nosherwan @volkris Revue was Twitter's competitor to Substack.
@thomasreggi @volkris interesting, must not have been very popular.
Melon could have just de-activated Jack's account why did he shut down the whole service...🤔
@nosherwan @volkris I'd expect Elon to want shut down Revue to cut costs, it was a the failed project, most people didn't even know about it. Plus, I'd assume he wants to consolidate the brand under one roof and embed long-form content directly onto the Twitter platform.
@thomasreggi @volkris I have heard rumors that they are due on their offices rent.
@nosherwan me too 😆 📉
@nosherwan @volkris@qoto.orgI was there during the transition from Jack to Parag. I enjoyed Jack's vision and leadership while he was at the company, and I was disappointed to see him go. Ultimately, I think he didn't steer the ship in the right direction, but it seemed like he was burnt out. I ended up falling into the "Twitter is the town square" narrative. 🤷
@volkris @nosherwan I think from Jack's sentiment it seems that he regrets that Twitter was centralized in the first place. Jack wrote the Revue post in a thread critiquing "the Twitter files" leak from Musk, and literally 17 hours later Musk shuts down the blogging service. It seems like a posturing move from Elon. Twitter will never be decentralized, it doesn't make sense for that to happen from a financial perspective. I'd say they're both ideologically opposed. He even made a joke about it.
